Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document my adventures in flight and the people I meet along the way!

I hope you enjoy the wonderings of an old grey hair!

Stay Safe,

The Pile, the Pit and the Pain

The Pile, the Pit and the Pain

I worked at the site for at least one tour (16 hours) per week from day one until the site was closed in May of 2002. At first I worked the Pile. Running a treatment sector for my Brothers and Sisters searching for the trapped. Then the Morgue, sifting through remains discovered for positive identification.

I lived on steroids and inhalers to breathe, I slept in the pews of St. Pauls Chapel for rest breaks.

We cried, we tried, we stayed and we prayed.

Christmas that year was surreal. It was quiet and reverent. One of the most Holy Holidays that I have ever had.

Funeral after funeral. It was a very long year. God Bless the FDNY Emerald Society Pipes and Drums for their tireless commitment to Honor our lost.
